Description
This work package will focus on solving problems and developing process innovations for Smart Lean Operations. The activities in this work package will be the used to guide the execution of the pilot projects in WP6, and the experiences from the initial phase of the pilot projects will be used to further develop and refine the process innovations related to Smart Lean Operations. Different technologies require different innovations, based on the type of technology, maturity of the technology, degree and scope of technological involvement, and application area. Therefore, the innovations will focus in key areas identified as most important by the industrial partners, including:
- Industrial internet of things (sensors/cloud),
- Augmented reality and wearables,
- Simulation and digital twins,
- Big data analysis (including AI/advanced PPC).
Indentifying skillsets for future operations managers
The prerequisites of this work include identifying the relevant industrial skillset for Operations managers. A skillset refers to the defined list of particular competences that are required for Operations Managers of the future to manage the complexity and effectively handle the implementation of Smart Lean Operations.
In addition, a Decision Support methodology will be developed for finding specific potential technological and process innovations. These will ensure that the industrial partners have the needed competence to manage development of Smart Lean Operations, and that the industrial partners can identify specific areas of improvement in both technologies and in manufacturing processes that can be focused on.
