Erlend Alfnes is Associate Professor in Production Management at NTNU Trondheim, Norway. He is BSc in Control Engineering at the Trondheim College of Engineering, M.Sc. in Production Engineering from Narvik Institute of Technology, and PhD in Production Management from NTNU. In the period 1998 – 2013, he was employed as a researcher and senior researcher at SINTEF Technology and Society, Department of Operations Management.
Alfnes research interests are within Lean manufacturing, manufacturing planning and control, enterprise resource planning systems, and manufacturing strategy. He has 15 years’ experience as a leader of national and international research projects. EuroLean+ - a European Lean Network, Effekt – efficient manufacturing of advanced ship equipment, and Autopart – world-class spare part production, are some research project he is/has been managing. He has also several times been invited to lecture about topics like Manufacturing Execution Systems, production strategy and Lean manufacturing.
