This phase of the project will bring the theoretical, conceptual, and infrastructural elements (WP1-WP5) into practice. Pilot projects will be carried out within the industrial partners in this phase, in order to further develop, test, and refine the Blended Network Action Methodology and LEAN 4.0 Platform, as well as the Smart Lean Operations theory and practices. The industrial partners will implement Smart technologies and Lean practices in small-scale pilot projects, in an attempt to improve their own operations and their ability to learn, teach and share knowledge. The pilot projects will on the following main knowledge areas related to Smart Lean Operations:

  • Industrial internet of things (sensors, cloud computing)
  • Big data analysis (Product quality and defect tracking, Supply planning, Manufacturing process defect tracking )
  • Simulation (Simulation based Value Stream Mapping, Material Flow Analysis, and Layout Design)
  • Augmented Reality and wearables (Knowledge transfer, standardization and interactive co-working in production and warehouse by AR Glasses)

In addition to these main knowledge areas, other possible topics will be considered due to the volatile and rapid development of other technologies and methodologies.
